Avaya IP Office 406 3.0 (Version 2)

Avaya IP 406 v2 Office IP PBX Phone System
Item #9708 MFR SKU 700359946

The Avaya IP Office IP406 V2 Office is the new 406 hardware. The IP Office
IP406 V2 Office base unit is 19" rack mountable. Optional internal upgrades
allow for the support of up 12 x V.90 modem calls and a 5, 10, 20 or
30-channel Voice Compression Module (VCM). The VCM module supports 4, 8,
16 or 24 simultaneous Voice over IP sessions. These can be used for either
providing networking between sites over a Wide Area Network or supporting
IP Telephones and Soft phones. An IP extension only uses the compression
module whilst on a call to a non-IP extension/line. Hence, it is possible to
support more extensions than the capacity of the VCM. Through support of
up to six external Expansion Modules, IP406 V2 can be enhanced to support
a mixture of Analog, Digital or IP Handsets to maximum of 190.

Avaya IP Office is an all-in-one solution specially designed to meet the
communications challenges facing small and medium sized businesses. Due
to its modular design, the solution can scale from 2 to 360 extensions to meet
the needs of home offices, standalone businesses, and networked branch
and head offices. Built on the latest advancements in converged voice and
data technology, small to mid-sized businesses can benefit from many of the
advantages sophisticated communications deliver to enterprise operations. IP
Office supports a wide range of telephones but the 5400 series Digital phones
and the 5600 series IP phones have been specifically designed to work with IP
Office and provide small and medium sized businesses with a choice of
solutions to meet business efficiency and customer service requirements.

Avaya IP Office IP406 V1 Office
Supports 6 Expansion Modules providing a combination of up to 180 analog
and digital extensions, with capacity for 8 analog trunks or 2 digital trunk (48
T1 channels or 60 E1 channels). Additional analog trunks can be provisioned
using the IP400 Analog trunk 16 module. Features include 20 optional voice
compression channels, 8 port Layer 2 switch, and 24 data channels. Data
channels are used for Routing, RAS and Voicemail applications. V2 replaces V1.

Avaya IP Office IP406 V2 Office
Similar to the IP406V1 but adds 8 Digital Station ports (DS), 2 analog phone
ports, a compact flash memory card socket for optional embedded voicemail.
The 8 Ethernet ports are switched (Layer 2). The serial port is changed to a
9-pin serial port and the trunk interfaces can include a dual-PRI in slot A.

All IP Office models support common software, telephones, and applications.

Avaya IP Office delivers full voice functionality with a comprehensive set of
features. The system can be configured as a voice-only PBX using traditional
circuit-switched lines or as an IP telephony server using high-speed ISDN/PRI
dial-up access and/or direct leased line connectivity.

When acting as an IP telephony server, IP Office supports cost effective
standards-based IP telephony (H323), quality of service (QoS) through DiffServ
(for routing), 802.1p (when used in conjunction with a CajunĀ® local area
network [LAN] switch), and remote locations connected via Frame Relay.
Voice calls can be allocated dynamically and can -bump- a multi-channel
data transmission from one of its channels as needed to help ensure priority
voice calls get through.

Multiple Avaya IP Office systems can be linked together using a standard data
network, providing limited feature transparency and advanced applications such
as centralized voice mail and call center. The data networking capabilities of IP
Office include Internet or branch-to-branch based routing with firewall-protected
Internet access and integral security. The system supports the QSIG protocol
for improved networking and interoperability.

As a local-area network (LAN) hub, IP Office can connect up to eight PCs to
each other and a router with standards-based directory support for easy
integration into IT environment. Avaya IP Office is complementary to Avaya
switch technology and VPNetĀ® solutions, giving businesses the ability to grow
into converged networks.

The basic system includes a 4-port voice messaging solution and the ability for
users to manage their phone calls through a simple GUI. Additional applications,
such as enhanced (integrated) messaging, web-enabled conferencing, and
customer service (call center) can be added when needed. The Auto Attendant
application enables callers to route their own calls to the relevant
department/person without the need to speak to an operator/receptionist.
Receptions/operators can take advantage of the SoftConsole application to
present a professional view of the business to all callers. TAPI (Telephone
Applications Programming Interface) support enables IP Office to be linked to
Microsoft Outlook and other popular desktop applications for screen pops and
PC-based telephony management.

Avaya IP Office allows users access from desktop computers, laptop PCs, with
individual firewall security and access control.

Investment protection is offered through handsets supported by several Avaya
platforms, and provides a migration path that is forward and backwards
compatible. IP Office supports IP and digital telephone operation, with large
display desktop phones with sophisticated screen-driven feature access. Single
button on/off control is available for selected features for ease of use.
